Testament as if he were living before the coming of Christ is an historical anachronism which also fails to take seriously the literature’s present function within the Christian Bible for a practising community of faith. Similar theological objections obtain for the frequent proposal that Christians read the Old Testament as Jews and only the New Testament as Christians, which of course destroys the theological meaning of the canonical terminology of the Old Testament within the Christian Bible.
